It has been a major topic since you were in middle school. But that seems to be it. No one really wants to discuss the facts or even give their opinions for fear of being judged by their peers. I will note that I do not think that feeling embarrassed about what you think is a good reason not to speak. So, I have created this blog so I can answer some questions that I have been curious about, and get responses from people that I wish to hear their opinion. Friends, family, strangers, whatever. It is all anonymous. Post what you want. I will be using this information for projects I am starting. Your opinion is valuable to me.
So, without further ado, here is my Question Blog and my first Question of the Day:
What do you think causes teen pregnancy?
-What are the factors?
-What situations?
-What is your solution?
i think its mostly biology. up untill recently people were supposed to have kids at a young age. so alot of it is just how we are and also that we're stupid. i guess realistic solution is just birth control. its already not a big deal like it was years back. but make birth control an even more common thing and letting them know how hard having a kid can be
ReplyDeleteI think teen pregnancy is directly effected by lack of knowledge about contraceptives and sex education. Telling teens that sex is wrong has not kept it from happening, so school should provide more appropriate sex ed. Contraceptives are already easy to obtain, but if teens only knew where to gain things like condoms, pills, and dental dams then maybe they would be more likely to use them. Also, the teen's family will effect their knowledge of sex. Parents should be honest with their children and give their children facts that schools wont. Sex ed and talking to teens about sex does not promote sex. Sex is just natural and inevitable. If anything promotes sex, its curiosity caused by ignorance.
ReplyDeleteI think I will take a note from Bob Dylan and say "its the times, they are a changing." When I was a youngster, sex in general was somewhat of a "risqué" subject
ReplyDelete(This was a long time ago.) As the world began to change so did the idea of sex, it was no longer something to hide in one's underwear drawer. This modernizing of sex can be explained by so many things, I would like to accredit it to the media. Around the 60's and 70's, young artists like Andy Warhol were making movies that centered around sexual frustration; and journalists openly wrote about drug and sexual experiences in magazines like "Rolling Stone". These "radical" ideas over time became less radical and now, seeing boobs in theaters or reading a article about some new sort of "sex drug" almost seem normal. These changes have caused the younger generation to be exposed to the opposite sex much earlier than before. The old standby statement is that mere curiosity adds wings to every step. The key line here is curiosity: everyone gets curious about their body. Now with the times we live in experimenting with the curiosity of one's body is almost encouraged. This sprouts wings in the youth of America to start earlier and earlier. This can be a good thing or a bad thing; sex is good if protected (which not all kids do, thus leading to STD's and more notably, Pregnancy). Solutions to teen pregnancy... well if you are already in the situation where your belly is growing, filling with new life, you can either: have an Abortion, go to an adoption center, or keep it, if you really feel you are ready. All of those aforementioned actions are difficult, to say the least. So to most effectively stop teen pregnancy, one must avoid getting pregnant in the first place. For this you can simply not have sex, wear protection (either a diaphragm or condom both work 99.9% of the time,)the pill(which also works the majority of the time,) or playing the pull out game. (Which will not prevent pregnancy, contrary to popular belief!) What ever the youngsters decide to do, just remember to think before-hand about what may come from it. Sex is not a bad thing if the two people are mature and ready for the risks involved, a little preparation both physically and mentally can go a long away in this world .
Leaky Condoms- Oh hey this works =)
